Empowering Young Minds — The Lord’s Blessings Foundation Leads an Educational Advocacy on Sickle Cell at Mmofratuo Girls Boarding JHS

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the serene campus of Mmofratuo Girls Boarding Junior High School came alive with inspiration, learning, and hope as The Lord’s Blessings Foundation organized an impactful educational advocacy on sickle cell disease. The event aimed to raise awareness, dispel myths, and empower young girls with life-changing knowledge about a condition that continues to affect countless individuals and families in Ghana and beyond.

The program began with an opening prayer, followed by a warm welcome address from the school’s headmistress, who expressed her deep appreciation to the foundation for choosing Mmofratuo Girls as a host school. She highlighted the importance of such advocacy programs in shaping the future of young women — the leaders, mothers, and health ambassadors of tomorrow.

Representatives from The Lord’s Blessings Foundation then took the stage to deliver engaging presentations about what sickle cell disease is, its causes, symptoms, and management. Through simple, relatable explanations, they helped students understand that sickle cell is a genetic blood disorder — not a curse or punishment, as some still wrongly believe.

The session was highly interactive. Students asked thoughtful questions such as “Can someone with sickle cell live a normal life?” and “How can we know our genotype before marriage?” These moments opened powerful conversations about the importance of genotype testing, early diagnosis, and emotional support for individuals living with the condition.

One of the highlights of the program was a touching testimony from a young woman living with sickle cell, who shared her personal journey — the struggles, the faith, and the hope. Her story moved many to tears and reinforced the foundation’s message that “Sickle cell is not the end of life; with love, care, and proper management, people with the condition can live full and purposeful lives.”

The Lord’s Blessings Foundation expressed gratitude to the school’s administration, teachers, and students for their warm reception and active participation. They reaffirmed their mission to continue spreading awareness and education on sickle cell across schools and communities throughout the country.

As the sun set over Mmofratuo that evening, one thing was certain — the message had been heard. The young girls left not just with new knowledge, but with renewed compassion and a sense of responsibility to educate others.

“Awareness is the first step toward change,” said a representative of the foundation. “And today, we have taken that step together.”
