Raising Sickle Cell Awareness at Martyrs of Uganda School, St. Lwanga JHS – March 21, 2025


On March 21, 2025, the students and staff of Martyrs of Uganda School, St Lwanga JHS, came together for a vital cause—raising awareness about sickle cell disease. This outreach program aimed to educate, inspire, and empower the school community to understand the impact of the disease and the importance of early detection, management, and support for affected individuals.

At the St Lwanga JHS awareness event, community advocates, educators, and medical experts delivered thought-provoking seminars. Included in the program were:

Educational Talks: Health care providers discussed sickle cell disease’s causes, symptoms, and treatment, highlighting the need for genetic testing in preventing the condition.

Interactive Q&A: Teachers and students had the chance to ask questions and get answers to common misconceptions and myths around the illness.
